Good Health, Water and Weight Loss

By John GilbertGrant

Not everybody is aware of this fact; even people trying to lose weight, but water and weight loss are closely intertwined. We need water to survive and it is vital to our health. You can live for weeks with no food, but only days with no water. It flushes toxins and wastes out of our systems and helps the body circulate oxygen and nutrients.

Water and weight loss are closely related, so anyone trying to lose weight needs to be conscious of their water consumption. Water can help you feel full, reducing the likeliness of overeating. Water is vital to body temperature maintenance and of course, if you dont get enough water, dehydration will result.

If you deprive your body of much needed water consumption it can cause dehydration. Dehydration is a serious medical problem as it can lead to such medical problems such as kidney failure, shock, coma, electrolyte imbalances, and other health problems.

Replacing lost fluids as soon as possible is vitally important when dehydration occurs. Medical treatment for dehydrated patients consists of introducing fluids by IV as well as through drinking small quantities of water frequently.

People often wonder "how much water should I drink each day? Physicians recommend that people drink 64 ounces if water daily, or about eight glasses. When youre properly hydrated, your metabolism operates far more efficiently, working at a rate as much as 30% higher than in those who are slightly dehydrated. This means that drinking enough water each day can be a big help in losing weight and maintaining a healthy body weight.

Drinking at least eight glasses of water per day not only keeps your body properly hydrated but also flushes waste and toxins from the body. Try drinking a glass about 15 minutes before meals to make yourself feel less hungry this will help you in your efforts to lose weight.

Theres no time like the present to make sure youre hydrated. Get up right now and get a glass of water; Ill wait. Now that youre back, have a glass of water as you read. If you were about to have a snack a few minutes ago, youll find that you dont feel nearly so hungry after drinking water. Best of all, that snack you might have had could contain hundreds of calories, while that glass of water you had instead had zero!

Upon arising each day drink a glass of water. Some people prefer spring water or filtered water. Water is very refreshing and your body desires it although you might not think so. Before each meal drink a glass of water. About an hour after your meal drink another glass and repeat this pattern. Keep track of the glasses of water that you are consuming each day if you have trouble remembering. Before you know it you will have consumed the suggested 64 ounces of water without even realizing it. Keep a diary of your weight loss now that you have taken the steps to hydrate your body with the water and you will see that water and weight loss are an effective team in accomplishing your goals.
